Big news from the big homie Brenk! I told you about his first collaboration with Westcoast legend MC Eiht almost a year ago, and it turns out that the Kaisermühlen-Compton connection just kept growing after that. Apparently, Brenk handles the bulk of the production on Eiht's coming album "The Blacclist", which is supposed to materialize towards the end of the year via Blue Stamp Music (named after a Brenk beat) and Year Round Records. If the latter isn't clue enough for you, this of course means DJ Premier is involved too - in fact he's the only other producer on the record. Damn!
You can get a couple of teasers already, just head over to Brenkspace for five joints - and don't forget to leave some feedback...
PS: The sequel to Bs soul stew beat tape "Gumbo" is finished, watch out!
PPS: Brenk & Miles Bonny's collaboration LP "S3" is also done - beautiful!
PPPS: For the german-speaking folks, dope bicyle video for a Brenk-produced song by Skero & Kamp...

New release on Block Barley´s label "We Aint Music"
Jungle Drums and Ahu - Walk
The second installment on WE AINT MUSIC comes from the upcoming underground beatsmith Jungle Drums from Hamburg / Germany. On the title track „Walk“ he teams up with the wondeful voice of Ahu, known best for her collaborations with Flying Lotus on his critically acclaimed album „Los Angeles“ on Warp records. The track evokes a dreamlike atmosphere that already caught the ear of Gilles Peterson, who played it on his „Worldwide“ show on BBC 1 Extra.
On the flipside, Londons best kept beat secret, Mr. Beatnick, delivers a jazz influenced, synth driven remix which has been on heavy rotation on Londons no. 1 pirate radio Rinse fm. It was also championed by Mary Anne Hobbs who played the track on her experimental show on BBC Radio 1 Extra.
The second remix comes from spanish wonky veteran Mweslee, who gives the original version a cosmic twist - reminiscent of early Baldelli mixes. Heavy stuff indeed.
This vinyl only edition is extra limited. Only 250 copies were made for worldwide distribution. Each record is handnumbered and comes with an individual photograph which will also please the art collectro.
A beautiful package that shows our love for original music combined with elaborative artwork.

DJ Buzz: Cosmic War Of The Planets

Oh boy...When our austrian friends from Supercity get involved, the hot shite just keeps coming.
On July 3rd, Dj Buzz´ new baby drops on Personal Records!
“Cosmic War Of The Planets” is a thrilling audio / video kinda thing, that will blow your ears and eyes! From an old italo - us science fiction movie, Buzz seperated audio and video samples in order to give the movie as well as the music a new look and feel.
The result is a future classic, if by now you still don´t know what we´re talking about, have a look at the first video edit and single release “Stardust“, featuring Detroit´s finest Frank Nitty & viennese future funk expert Dorian Concept. The viennese design studio „Ichiban” takes credits for editing the videos plus the Dvd, that comes along with the lovely designed LP (artwork by franke).
